Visual Citizens
WHAT DO YOU DO?
We are Visual Citizens, a multidisciplinary design studio located in Rotterdam. Our work expands from digital visualisations and set architecture to product design and sculpture. Our focus is on sensorial experience and surreal environments. We are currently exploring the intersection between digital and physical design.
WHY ARE YOU DOING IT?
We started off by simply wanting to improve our skills in visualisation as well as design, but we were immediately captured by the limitless world of visuals. Digital design allows us to participate in a medium not constrained by the usual architecture restrictions. We are able to fully immerse ourselves in the complete design of a space through creating surreal imagery. We feel that the design world is at a critical moment. The digital medium is becoming increasingly important than ever before, and this digital world that is developing around us will need to be designed.
WHAT / WHO INFLUENCES YOU?
We have always been inspired by our travels. I would say that for us cities can challenge the way we see things and give me new perspectives on the world that otherwise may not have been possible. We try to immerse ourselves in new places, new cultures and new ideas as much as we can. We can be inspired by almost anything. Sometimes you can come across a space with amazing lighting, or the sky can suddenly fade from bright blue to a violet, or you can find an object with an interesting form – and this can prompt an idea in us.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?
Our main goal is to explore the limits of digital design. We are interested in how digital design can be an insight into the spaces of the future and so we want to explore its limits and create designs that inspire.
