Will Anderson
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I do quite a lot of things. I would say mainly it’s filmmaking, most often using animation. That said I film quite a lot of live-action, as I like to mix media where I can. At the moment I’m working on a game called ‘Plaything’, which allows the user to create a little animated character, which they spend time with over a series of intimate, emotionally driven interactions.
I’m really into documentaries, and have been working on a feature length project with my creative collaborator, Ainslie Henderson, which mixes animation and live-action subjects.
Basically I tend to always keep busy, and find animation the most exciting thing at the moment.
WHY ARE YOU DOING IT?
I don’t really know what else to do tbh ;)
I think some people have to sing, some have to paint, sculpt, play, shout as loud as they can… and animation allows me to talk about things I probably can’t articulate in other ways. Generally speaking I’m reasonable shy and don’t like too much attention. Therefore, being behind the scenes controlling something that ultimately has a message is appealing to me. I think it’s my way of performing without getting in front of people.
WHAT / WHO INFLUENCES YOU?
Documentaries, films, sad music, beautiful drawings, paintings and amazing people.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?
I’ve been working on a longer film for about 4 years now, so a goal is to get that finished sooner rather than later. I’m making a game with a friend called Niall tl and getting that completed and sharing that with the world in the next year or so will be lovely.
In terms of goals I really just need to keep my head busy with things that interest me, be it short film, longer film, drawing, or games.
I’d also like to go to the moon one day.
